Effective 1 August 2026 · Gurjas Evidence and Policy Analytics ("Gurjas", "we")

Scope

This policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with this website (gurjas.org) and general correspondence. Data handling within client engagements is governed additionally by the engagement's written scope and our data protection statement.

What this website collects

The core website can be read without accepting analytics cookies. Our hosting provider, GitHub Pages, and our font provider, Google Fonts, may receive ordinary technical request data such as an IP address, browser details and the requested file under their own policies.

Analytics and cookie choices

Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity are non-essential analytics services. They are loaded only after you choose “Accept analytics” in the cookie notice. If you decline, those services are not loaded. You can reopen Cookie preferences from the site footer and change your choice. We use analytics to understand aggregate page use and interaction patterns; we do not run behavioural advertising or sell personal information.

What consent-based events contain

After analytics consent, the site may record bounded event labels needed to distinguish useful activity from routine page views. These include the page, service or tool identifier; whether a contact handoff used phone, email or WhatsApp; whether a tool result or export action occurred; and whether the contact-form delivery service reported success or failure.

Where a visitor arrives through a tagged campaign, the site may retain the allowlisted utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term values, the landing-page path and an external referring hostname. This attribution record is created only after consent, is stored in browser session storage and expires with the browsing session. Full referring URLs are not retained by this layer.

The event layer does not read or send names, email addresses, organisation names, free-text enquiry content, thesis or research descriptions, datasets, tool inputs, search terms submitted to research tools, calculated results or copied report text. A form attempt is not treated as a successful enquiry: the success event is recorded only when the delivery service returns a successful response.

Research-tool queries

Six tools perform their calculations or triage locally in your browser. Three tools make a submitted lookup to external research-data services:

  • Journal Finder: sends the title, keywords or—only after explicit acknowledgement—up to 1,200 characters of an abstract to OpenAlex.
  • Predatory Journal Checker: sends the journal name or ISSN to OpenAlex, Crossref and DOAJ and also checks local reference files.
  • Recorded APC Lookup: sends the journal name or ISSN to OpenAlex.

These requests go directly from your browser to the named service when you press the relevant action button. Gurjas does not receive or store the search text. Each API-powered tool repeats this disclosure beside its input.

Service providers

Material website providers are GitHub Pages (hosting), Google Fonts (font delivery), Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity (consent-based analytics), FormSubmit (contact-form delivery), and OpenAlex, Crossref and DOAJ (submitted research-tool lookups). Their handling of request data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Correspondence

If you email us or submit the contact form, we receive the details and message you provide. The contact form is delivered through FormSubmit. We use this information to assess and respond to the enquiry and, where an engagement follows, to deliver it. We do not sell personal information, share it for unrelated marketing, or add you to a mailing list without a separate request.

Client materials

Datasets, documents and institutional materials shared during engagements are treated as confidential, used only for the agreed scope, access-limited to those working on the engagement, and deleted or returned on request at the close of an engagement.

Your rights

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion, or withdraw consent for future contact at any time by writing to [email protected]. We respond to reasonable access, correction, deletion and contact-preference requests. This policy is an operational disclosure, not a claim that the website has been legally certified for every jurisdiction; professional review should be obtained for each intentionally served market.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
